Spend five hours aboard a heated, modern catamaran from Ushuaia, stopping near Bird Island, Sea Lion Island, Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, and Martillo Island. A bilingual guide explains the wildlife and the 1930 SS Monte Cervantes wreck as you look for Magellanic and Papua penguins, whales, and seabirds.

“The activity is very nice, you can‘t enter the island but you see the penguins very close. There was no guide but speakers telling somethings. It was loud but in a bad quality so you couldn‘t understand a lot.”

2.Ushuaia: Catamaran Sailing to Penguin Island

★★★★★★★★★★4.4 · 436 reviews · 5h 30m · from $92Best value

Spend 330 minutes aboard a guided catamaran from Ushuaia, watching sea lions, cormorants, Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, and penguins on Martillo Island. The boat does not land on the island, but gets close for photographs. English and Spanish commentary, bathrooms, outdoor decks, and a café are available.

“It was a very comfortable and informative trip, we were given plenty of time to view and photograph the sea lions at the lighthouse, and again when we saw the penguins. On the way out we saw a humpback whale and on the return there were dolphins, on both occasions the captain stopped and then manoeuvred the boat to ensure that everyone had time to get a good view, there was no rush. I would highly recommend this trip.”
